JSC appoints Frida Boyani Mokaya as Chief Registrar of Judiciary
Mokaya has over 27 years of experience in the legal profession and before her appointment, she served as the Registrar of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) since 2012.
The Judicial Service Commission has appointed Frida Boyani Mokaya as Chief Registrar of the Judiciary for a five-year term.

She joined the Judiciary in 1997 and served as a District Magistrate II, Resident Magistrate, Senior Magistrate, Principal Magistrate and Senior Principal Magistrate.
Mokaya holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
She is also a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K).
In a statement on Tuesday, the JSC Chairperson and Chief Justice Martha Koome congratulated Mokaya on her appointment and thanked all the other candidates for their participation in the recruitment and selection process.
"The Commission shortlisted seven candidates who were interviewed on Monday, March 18, 2024. Following deliberation and careful consideration of the candidates, based on merit, performance and suitability for the position, the JSC has appointed Frida Boyani Mokaya as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary for a five-year term," Koome said.
As the Chief Registrar, Mokaya will serve as the Chief Administrator and Accounting Officer of the Judiciary.
She will be the Secretary to the JSC as well as Secretary to the National Council on Administration of Justice.
Mokaya replaces Anne Atieno Amadi who retired early this year.
In her capacity as the Chief Registrar, Amadi administered the oath of office to President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 and to President William Ruto in 2022. Her five-year contract was renewed in 2019 and she retired on 12 January 2024.
